Rest Day
I make it a point to rest every sunday; and I try to rest wednesdays but it usually turns into "active rest". I know it's not constantly varied, but i enjoy routine.
So on Sundays I'm going to try to post thoughts about anything, really just whatever pops into my head:
I just watched the video that mark took at the Canada East Regionals of the 3rd wod... the one I almost came last place in. It was the following:
21-15-9 reps for time of:
315# deadlifts
30" box jumps
When I first saw this wod posted I actually got excited because I have been working so hard on my deadlift and I love deadlifts, but then my heart sunk because I knew that I would not fair well in this one. But then I saw the next one "The 100's" and I thought well this will balance everything out, and it did.
However, when watching this video I noticed two things: 1) I shouldn't have been so quick to count myself out of this one 2) I shouldn't have gamed it so much. I did 5 reps off the start when I am capable of doing 15 reps with that weight, I should've done about 10 reps and went from there. This being said I gave it my all and have no regrets, It's all a learning experience for next year and the years to come. The great thing about competition (especially a CrossFit comp) is that it exposes what you need to work on, I knew what i needed to work on before the competition, this brought no surprises. But, it reinforced the confidence I have in my training and it will drive me through my training for next year. I have the competition bug and I will be competing in as many competitions that my wallet and schedule will allow from now until next years CrossFit Open, I am more stoked about this then ever before. My training over the next few months will show it.
